Voice of America (VOA) is the largest U.S. International broadcaster, providing news và information in more than 40 languages khổng lồ an estimated weekly audience of more than 280 million people. VOA Firewall

Mission


The VOA Mission is drawn from The VOA Charter, which was signed into law by President Gerald R. Ford in July 12, 1976. The Charter protects the editorial independence và integrity of VOA programming.

The long-range interests of the United States are served by communicating directly with the peoples of the world by radio. To be effective, the Voice of America must win the attention và respect of listeners. These principles will therefore govern Voice of America (VOA) broadcasts:

1. VOA will serve as a consistently reliable & authoritative source of news. VOA news will be accurate, objective, và comprehensive.

2. VOA will represent America, not any single segment of American society, & will therefore present a balanced & comprehensive projection of significant American thought & institutions.

3. VOA will present the policies of the United States clearly và effectively, và will also present responsible discussions and opinion on these policies.

THE JOURNALISTIC CODE

PREAMBLE

Since 1942, the Voice of America has built a global reputation as a consistently reliable source of news and information. Accuracy, balance, comprehensiveness, and objectivity are the qualities audiences around the world expect of VOA. These standards are legally mandated in the VOA Charter (Public Laws 94-350 & 103-415). Because of them, VOA is a vital information lifeline to lớn nations and peoples around the world.
